Sick Day

5/12/2011

I wasn't feeling good today.  My tummy hurt, and I had a fever and diarrhea.  Mommy went to work for a little bit, but I started feeling bad at daycare.  They called her, and she came to pick me up.  We went to the doctor, because of the fever, but he just said I had a little stomach bug.  We have to let it run it's course.  Mom and I stayed home the rest of the day. Despite my tummy ache, we still managed to have some fun.

From Mommy:
It was kind of a crazy day.  I got a call at work from daycare about about 9:45am.  They said he had diarrhea and a fever, so I called the doctor.  The fever was only 100.1, but the doctor still wanted to see him, so I took a sick day at work and had PJ to the pedi by 11am.  It was just a stomach bug, so they can't do anything for him.  He has been VERY moody all day, smiley one second and freaking out another.  It was a rough afternoon.  I did manage to get him to nap for a while, and now he is restlessly down for the night.  Poor guy.  On a more fun note, we got a preview of next weeks 4 month appointment!  Today he weighed 15lbs - 12ozs, a lot more than I thought.  He's definitely catching up to Jack and has more than doubled his birth weight!

I am NOT sleepy

It's 10:00 and I am wide awake.  Mommy has tried to get me to sleep 17 times, but I am just NOT sleepy.  Ok, so I'm sleepy, but there is just so much going on, and I don't want to miss a thing!
In other news, Mommy has definitely noticed some new fuzzy hair growing on my head!  Maybe it will fill in some of my patchy bald spots.

From Mommy:
Hopefully this means that once I do finally get Preston to fall asleep he'll be tired enough to STAY asleep.  The past few nights he's been waking up more frequently, and it's starting to wear on me again.  John is getting sick, too, so he needs a good night's sleep.  It could be the dreaded 4 month wakefulness - he's starting to become a lot more aware of what's going on, learning new things everyday, trying hard to get his body to move the way he wants to.  It could also be a growth spurt, although, he doesn't seem to be TOO hungry.  Usually during a growth spurt he just wants to eat and sleep.  Either way, I hope he starts to sleep again.  He DID sleep for about an hour from 7-8 tonight.  Usually he'll go much longer than that, but when he woke up at 8 he was wide awake and ready for action!  It's 10 now, and I once I'm done writing we are not messing around anymore. It's BEDTIME.

Collage

Daddy made this awesome collage of my week photos so far.
Today I tried out a new activity a daycare.  They have a bouncy seat that I can stand up in.  Miss Tiffany was so impressed that I knew how to do it.  It looks like all my bouncing in the jumperoo has paid off!  I think Mommy should retire my lounge chair and get me a new, awesome standing-up chair.  Maybe she'll get a picture of me at daycare tomorrow.

Sweet 16 - Happy Mother's Day!

5/8/2011

What a LONG and happy weekend!  I guess I should start with Yesterday - Grandpa Krug's Birthday!  Mommy, Daddy, and I went to church in the morning for Baptism Class, and then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Krug's House for lunch to celebrate Grandpa's Birthday.  He had a Birthday PIE!  Daddy, again, had to go to Bach choir in the afternoon, but Mommy and I hung out in Nazareth.  Mommy's friends Lorna and Emily came over to meet me!  I had met Lorna before, but it was so nice to finally meet Emily - and Emily's mom came over, too.  BONUS!  When we finally got home we took a trip to the mall to get ready for today's Mother's Day/Baptism festivities.

Today was a BIG day.  Most importantly, I got Baptized.  It was pretty fun.  Mom, Dad, and I got to stand up in front of the whole church, and then Pastor Dave poured water on my head.  After that he held me for a little bit to introduce me to everyone.  They all thought it was so funny when I yawned, but seriously, it wasn't that big of a deal.  I get shown off and passed around on a daily basis!  Grandma made the outfit that I wore, hat and shoes and all.  She also made Mommy's dress!  We keep her so busy with sewing projects. I also wore some blingbling, a baby ring that has been passed down through generations, and all the babies in the family have worn it.
Second most importantly, it was Mother's Day.  It's actually a really important day, and it's almost too bad that it gets second billing to my Baptism, but Mommy planned it that way.  It was her FIRST mother's day, and Daddy and I got her a card, a massage, and a mani/pedi.  She definitely deserves a little pampering.
And third most importantly today was my Sweet 16 (weeks), so we had a PARTY.  I'll admit that the party was really to celebrate my Baptism and mother's day, but who doesn't love a Sweet 16?  All of my Grandparents, Uncle Joe and Aunt Debbie were there.  My Great-Grandparents, lots of Great Aunts and Uncles, and friends came, too!  You can check out the photos to see everyone.  We had quite the celebration at Grandma Krug's house. We had a Noah's Ark cake for my Baptism, and a heart cake for Mother's Day, and LOTS of food.  Grandma is a good sport to let us have a party at her house.
It was a long and exciting day, and I am going to sleep really well tonight (at least Mommy hopes I do).

From Mommy:
Phew, what a weekend!  Preston gave you most of the details, but I just wanted to add that I had a really wonderful first Mother's Day, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate it.  We saw our Moms and Grandmas, and Preston was welcomed into our church family.
Of course there always has to be one blip in a perfect day, and that one blip had me totally freaking out tonight.  When we got home from our busy day we knew we would have two very hungry cats to feed.... but only one showed up for dinner.  Jack was MISSING.  We looked everywhere inside (he's been known to get locked in closets), but he was no where to be found.  We knew we had a problem; he's not an outdoor cat and by our calculations he had been outside for nearly 10 hours.  We suspect he escaped when John was loading the car this morning.  Needless to say, I freaked out.  We searched everywhere, calling for him and shaking the dindin bag.  I called my mom, hysterical, having visions of him wandering aimlessly or getting picked up by a neighbor. She brought me back to reality.  Jack is a very nervous cat in new places and situations, and she assured me that he was just hiding somewhere close to home.  She and Debbie decided to come over as moral support and to help look.  The good news is that 20 minutes later, after searching under 3 sheds, I found him behind our garbage cans - as close to the house that he could get without being inside.  It's a good thing that I found him, because even after we tried to coax him out with dindin, we still had to go move the cans to go in and get him.  It proved to me that no matter how much I called him he wouldn't have come.  He is safe and sound and acting like he owns the place (Susie is a little freaked out, we think he smells different to her).  Mom and Debbie stayed for a few minutes and were glad they didn't need to be part of the search party.I was so mad at him for doing this to me on Mother's Day.  He is, after all, one of my first babies.

We have lots of new photos to share on the Shutterfly, and I'll post some highlights tomorrow.  Preston is a little lovey, so giggly and smiley.

We are SO excited for this weekend.  Tomorrow we are going to Grandma and Grandpa Krug's house for lunch to celebrate Grandpa's Birthday.  We are also going to see Mommy's friends Lorna and Emily, and Aunt Debbie!  Then on Sunday I'm getting Baptized and we're having a picnic.  Daddy is going to take a lot of pictures to share.

From Mommy:
I figured out another giggle method: rock Preston in his car seat.  I swear this kid is going to love rides and roller coasters.  He has no fear.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend.  It's going to be a challenge, but will be a lot of fun!

Cinco de Mayo

My parent's had fried rice for dinner.  So much for celebrating a Spanish holiday.  Oh well. Daddy had the evening off from Bach Choir, but we still decided to stay in.  I get awfully sleepy when I get home from daycare, so I end up cuddling with Mommy and Daddy for a lot of the evening.  Mommy wishes that I would be more awake, so she can play with me, but I'm just so worn out!
My Marigolds look basically the same as yesterday, and we didn't get a chance to take a photo.

From Mommy:
I love the little personality that is starting to show through in Preston, and it breaks my heart that I don't get to spend a lot of time with him.  I get about an hour of a happy baby after I pick him up from daycare.  Then he gets sleepy and cranky.  We cuddle in the evening a lot, but I wish we could play.  I guess this is how it's going to be, so I make the best of it.  I am SO looking forward to the weekend.

Check out another new video of me!  Mommy is discovering all the new ways to make me laugh.  I like to keep them secret.  So far she has figured out that I like to be bounced violently, tossed in the air, and undressed.   I have a few more, but she'll have to keep trying.

Missing Daddy

Daddy has Bach choir every night except thursday, and the same next week.  We miss him!  Mommy is actually a little bit jealous.  They are going to have to work something out next fall so they both can go.  I'll have to hang with baby sitter.

Here are the Marigolds from last night - I think it's Day 7.  Can you tell which way the sun was?
From Mommy:
Preston is a much better sleeper now.  He still sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night to eat, but it's not every night.  For a while he was really good about falling asleep on his own, but for the last few days he has been fighting it.  I guess he's just getting bigger and ever more aware of what's going on around him.  I also still likes to be cuddled to fall asleep, and with my limited time with him during the day, I can't say I'm upset about that.  It means my house is a mess and that I don't get a lot of stuff done, but he's growing so fast.  I want to cherish all of the little moments we have together.
He loves to do baby crunches.  When I put him in his vibrating chair or on the boppy pillow he always does crunches and tries to sit up.  He's going to have great baby abs!

It's a Monday

Today it was back to the grind of work and daycare.  I had to stay late at daycare, because Mommy had to work late.  It was ok, Daddy came to pick me up.
I LOVE to be bounced.  I love to bounce in my bouncer, too, but when Mommy bounces me (pretty violently) on her knee I crack up laughing.  Dad tried to get a video, but by the time he got his whole camera system set up I was hungry.  Nothing can make me laugh when I'm hungry; it's a very serious matter.

My marigolds are showing their happy green faces, and growing strong!

Daddy had choir tonight, so I had to settle for Mommy's lap for my evening nap:

15 Weeks

Check out my new BOUNCE video --------->
I have a lot to share today!  My flowers are starting to grow, I'm 15 weeks old, we had a bath time fiasco, Leslie and Cory came to visit, and Grandma and Grandpa stopped by this morning.
Day 5: My Marigolds are starting to grow!  Can you see the small red and green shoots?  They are mixed in with some extra seeds that floated to the top (we added a little too much water to begin with, but it evaporated, and now everything is perfect). I think we'll have a lot of flowers to show off!  Now, it's getting exciting and I'll post a photo every day.
Mommy gave me a bath today.  I'm really starting to love bath time!  I like to splash and kick my legs in the water.  Apparently it's a bit of a problem, because until now bath time has taken place in the KITCHEN.  Today, I kicked so much that there was water EVERYWHERE.  Mommy thought it was pretty funny, but we had to cut bath time short.  And from now on we have to take baths upstairs in the big boy bathroom.  Mom says I can still use my little tub, we'll just put the little tub in the big tub.

For lunch, Mom went to Alex's Bridal shower, and Daddy had his friends Leslie and Cory over for a picnic!  Holly came over for a little bit, too, because she went with Mom to the shower.  She looks SO cute with her inside baby - he'll be a little boy like me when he decides to come out.
Happy shower, Alex!
We didn't get any pictures, because Grandma and Grandpa were only here for a few minutes this morning.  They brought me my Baptism outfit, and Mommy's dress for my Baptism.  We keep Grandma busy with sewing projects.  Emily is jealous!  We love you Emily; it's your turn now!

There are more pictures on the Shutterfly, and we have a request from Emily to take a bunch more.  We'll try to keep up!  Daddy will be consumed by Bach Choir for the next two weeks.  They have festival and recording sessions!  It's going to be crazy.  Mom and I won't really see him until Thursday.

I had a BUSY day, and Daddy has a comfy lap.  Good Night!
