My Mom worked SO hard to make my Labor Day croquet hat. The big day was sort of spoiled by everyone being sick. Dad still played the game, and Mom came out for the big photo. Anyway, here is my hat! I was a GLADIATOR: I won the award for Most Creative hat, but I wasn't happy about it cutting into my nap-time.

This has been a crazy weekend so far. We left home for the Lake on Thursday night arriving pretty late. We all slept soundly, and on Friday Mommy took Grandma for a Birthday Spa day. I had exciting adventures with Daddy all afternoon, taking pictures in all sorts of crazy places. On Friday night I slept for 11 hours straight! That is my longest stretch EVER.
Saturday is when the craziness began. Everything went smoothly through the day until about 6pm when Mommy and Aunt Emily started to feel bad. They both just rested, but before long they were both sick with a stomach bug. Throughout the night and into today just about everybody got sick: Mommy, Daddy, Debbie, Emily, Grandma, Grandpa, Mema AND Aunt Merideth. Ted and Rachel left this morning so that they wouldn’t get sick and so did Mema and Poppop Locker. So far the only two people who aren’t affected are Poppop and Me. Mommy is trying really had to keep me from getting sick, because it’s a really terrible sickness to have. Everyone is lethargic and dehydrated, and if I got it Mommy thinks she would need to take me to the emergency room. I’ve been nursing like crazy all day to get the good antibodies to fend off the sickness. This is definitely not what we planned for this weekend, but despite everyone being sick, we still had the annual croquet tournament. I wore my GLADIATOR hat, and everyone loved it! This year there were prizes for the hats, and I got my FIRST trophy. My hat won the “Most Creative” award. Next year we’re going for Ugliest hat, or maybe Most Unique. Big NEWS!! I crawled TWO steps on my own. I’ve been army crawling to get around for the past two weeks, but in the last few days I’ve really been working on the hands and knees crawl. Mom and Dad better watch out! We don’t have great internet, so I won’t be able to post pictures until tomorrow, so stay posted! From Mommy: Phew! What a weekend. I had a really lovely time with Mom at the Roosevelt Spa in the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga. I decided to treat her to a Spa day since almost every year her birthday is spent driving or taking care of big crowds of people on Labor Day weekend. We had lunch at an outdoor café and then walked the grounds of the resort to get to the spa. We each got a massage and a facial and felt SO pampered. I guess it was a good thing that we did that early, because this virus (or flu or who knows what) has really wiped us all out. Preston slept GREAT last night, while I only slept for 4 hours. Then this afternoon we all took a nap, but of course Preston doesn’t slow down just because I have, so I had to get up when he wanted to get up. All in all I think I did ok. I was one of the first people to get sick, which means I’m one of the first to recover. Now it is pouring rain with thunder and lightning. Tomorrow we are heading home; I hope we all feel much better in the morning, and I’ll post pictures when I can! |
