I have fallen behind on writing because we have been SOOOOO busy. The last few nights we have gotten in late, and haven’t had much time to do anything other than get organized and sleep.
I hand wrote a journal for two days ago while we were sitting down at a restaurant waiting for food. I’ll post that in a bit.
December 19th - Things are a bit out of order.
Yesterday, we had a full day in Rotorua. The kids went Zorbing first thing in the morning. Then we visited the Agrodome sheep show and farm tour. I got to milk a cow and we all fed a bunch sheep. The next stop was a new one for me: the Redwood Tree Walk, which is a series of bridges and platforms built high up in the redwood trees that were planted 100 years ago. It was a fun adventure for the kids. The other famous thing to do in Rotorua is visit the geothermic sites. I didn’t book these things in advance because I thought we were just going to be able to walk in anytime of day and visit the site. Not so anymore. You need to plan for at least half a day to do a million different activities. So we missed out on that, but found the local FREE geothermic site in the middle of town and that scratched the itch.
We ended the day with a long drive to National Park Village with a stop in Turangi for dinner (that’s where I wrote the journal for Hobbiton and Mt. Maunganui).
Lots of pictures of our day in Rotorua:
