From Mommy:
Preston was SO cranky today. We slept pretty well last night, so it didn't wear on my patience too much, but I'm not hoping for a repeat performance tomorrow. I am being brave. I put the baby to sleep in his bassinet upstairs, and I am using the baby monitor downstairs! I'm sure I'll still check on him every half hour or so, but I can't help but think that we both need a break from each other, and maybe this will be a good solution. Despite all the crying and crankiness, I can't help but be so in love when I look at him. I can't believe that John and I made him and that he is ours forever! So besides having a difficult baby, I was still able to get some work done. I'm on maternity leave, but there is just so much to do at work that I end up doing some of it from home. It's generally easier for me to just do it, than for me to have to train someone else to do it. I do love being home with him, and I would do just about anything to be a stay-at-home-mom. Hopefully by the time I have to return to work I will have come to terms with it, but at this point I don't even like to talk about it. Working from home is good though. I can nurse him and do work at the same time. So the system is good for now. So, it was a semi- quiet day, PS - Preston is too CRANKY to post today.

Gigi Nedick brought pot roast, apple pie, and cookies for Mom and Dad. Both my Grandma's love to change diapers; Mom doesn't complain about that! Later in the evening Grandma Krug stopped by for a baby fix. She brought the newspaper with my birth announcement. That's one for my baby book! I'm starting to be more alert during the day. Everyone loves my big eyes and endless expressions. I have a lot to learn. Tonight is bath night... ick. Then, tomorow is back to work for Daddy... double ick. But if the weather stays nice this week Mommy might take me to visit Daddy at work! That will be fun! ![]() I'm 2 weeks old today! We took a special 2 week photo; it's in the gallery. I feel like we accomplished something today! We went on our first family adventure and it was a big success! I feel lucky to have a baby that travels well, and is easy to pass around. I definitely feel more confident about taking him places now. So maybe we won't be so couped up in the house anymore. Now if only we could get a break from all of this snow! Siobhan and Chris came over tonight and brought Mom and Dad some awesome Hoagies! Mom wasn't allowed to eat lunch meat while she was pregnant with me, so she is super excited to be able to have hoagies again. I loved seeing Siobhan and Chris again. I met them on my birthday at the hospital, but lots has changed since then. ![]() From Mommy: Kaelyn Michaels took some beautiful Maternity pictures of me the day and week before Preston was born. We will post a new photo album with them all, but this is a peek at her beautiful work. To think, just 12 hours after this photo was taken, Preston was in my arms. Yesterday we had the biggest snow storm yet! Daddy stayed home from work again, and another new friend, Leslie, came to visit. We just got home from a short evening outing to the mall. Mommy was SO excited to get out of the house again. We are just hanging out now waiting for Siobhan and Chris who are awesome enough to bring dinner for Mom and Dad. We definitely have more photos tonight!
Tomorrow is going to be a BIG day. We are all headed to Hoboken to celebrate Emily's birthday and meet Auntie Rachel for the first time. I t We have had a lot of snow the past 2 days, so both Mommy AND Daddy have been home with me! It's been awesome. We mostly hang out during the day. Yesterday was my first time out of the house in a WEEK. We went to the pediatrician again. I weighed 7lbs 2oz, so I'm not quite back up to my birth weight. I was only 10 days old, though, and they usually say that it takes up to 14 days to gain enough to get back to birth weight. So I am right on track. ![]() I had my littlest visitor yet! Daddy's work friend Nate came over with his family, Karen and Kai. Kai is one and a half. Karen is expecting a little girl sometime in March! I can't wait to meet my new friend. From Mommy:
Miraculously we are all getting more sleep. I still get up 2 times a night to tend to Preston, but we get our business done and go right back to sleep. Somehow I feel rested in the morning, and everything is good! I know babies are notorious for changing routines, though, so I'm enjoying this while it lasts. Today is my due date, but I am already here! January 25th was a big part of Mommy and Daddy's life for the past 8 months; it seems only fit to acknowledge it as a special day, Of course next year we'll only be excited about the 16th, but we'll give the 25th it's moment.
![]() So, you can't really see in this picture, but I got my first piece of mail today! It was my Birth Certificate - Addressed to Parents of: Preston John Nedick. It's pretty exciting! I can get a Social Security number now. Daddy had to go back to work today. Mommy and I really missed him, but Grandma Krug came to help out. I also got a visit from my Great Grandparents Locker. I love visits from my family and friends! From Mommy:
I missed John today. For the past week we have all been home getting settled in. Apparently he had a busy day at work, so I think it went fast for him. It was really nice to have my mom here to help out. I think I'll be ok on my own, but I really appreciate the extra help. ![]() As predicted, Amy and Shawn came over and brought Mommy and Daddy some delicious dinner. They also brought me a fluffy Elephant Friend. We had a fun night. Be sure to check out the Baby 2011 Online Photo Album. A few new super cute photos of me have been added! From Mommy:
Good news! I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jean (at least one pair). That was fast! I still have a few LB's to lose, but I think they will come off gradually on their own. It might be nice to start an easy workout plan again, but it's a little too soon. It's just nice to have the old me *almost* back. |
