A BOUNCE HOUSE!  And a few airplanes

Since this blog is from my perspective lets be serious about the TRUE highlight of the Lehigh Valley Airshow: the inflatables.  Mom wasn’t sure I could handle the obstacle one all by myself.  And while I DEFINITELY could (because I’m no baby), she came along to make sure I knew how to climb over each of the hills.  Then I got to jump around in a giant inflatable tiger!!  The grown-ups promised I could return to do more jumping, but by the end of the show they were all exhausted.

So then there were a bunch of airplanes, and sky divers, and a helicopter.  The grown-ups thought it was awesome, and took a TON of pictures.  The airplanes were pretty cool, but they flew by too fast for me to keep track of them.  I liked throwing my own paper airplanes around the field.

There was also a classic car show.  Let’s just say these are not my thing, and it’s not because I don’t love the cars.  I LOVE the cars!  I want to drive EVERY SINGLE CAR.  And when you aren’t really allowed to touch any of the cars let alone hop in a pretend to drive, it’s kind of not a great place to take a toddler who loves to drive.

Then we also visited a giant FedEx Airbus.  Again, a bit of a disappointment, since we entered one side of the plane, and came out the other side without ever actually FLYING anywhere.  I did get to sit in a special seat and check out the flight deck.  So that was cool.

Anyway, here are some awesome pictures that Daddy took – Better than the Morning Calls photos if you ask me!

From Mommy:

We are right in the middle of potty training right now, and it seems to be going well... better than it was anyway.  I'm confident enough to take him on short errands in underpants, although we visit the potty almost immediately, and never stay out too long.  We have successfully made it through a trip to Kohl's AND a shortish trip to the grocery store.  I'm feeling brave I guess.
This morning we had a bit of a break-through.  As I'm sure I mentioned, Preston sleeps in a toddler bed, and we have made it a rule since the very beginning that he has to stay in his bed until one of us goes in to get him (no running around the house or bedroom).  We're pretty sure he's been breaking the rule a little bit lately, running across his bedroom to get a stuffed animal and then running right back to his bed again... nothing too terrible.  But this morning I heard him shuffle his way into our bedroom.  I was about to scold him and send him back to bed, except that when I set eyes on him I almost burst out laughing.  He had his pajamas and diaper around his ankles and had managed to waddle his way to our bedroom like that!  And what's more important is that his over night diaper was completely dry, and he had managed get his pants down and tinkle in his potty ALL BY HIMSELF.  I forgot all about getting out of bed (because clearly we need to amend the rule to allow for potty time), and I was SO PROUD of him!!

And one final silly conversation for the night:

Preston: Whoa, Mommy, look at the dig-dig!
Me: That is the COOLEST dig-dig!
Preston: I like that dig-dig, I want to drive it!  It's my favorite!
Me: Honey, I think that dig-dig is too big for you, we can just look!
Preston: Mommy, I big enough!  I can drive that dig-dig.  Let's go drive that dig-dig!
Me: Well, it's not our dig-dig, so we can only look at it today.

August Catch-up Part 1 - The Beach

It’s been nearly two weeks since we went to the beach, so it’s high time to share a few photos.  This post will be mostly wordless, because the pictures sort of speak for themselves, but some highlights from the trip are:
- I learned to swim in the pool with a life jacket (floatation device) INDEPENDENCE IS MINE
- We went on the ferris wheel and a bunch of awesome rides on the boardwalk.  Every summer I get bigger and bigger and can do more rides!  This summer I could do a roller coaster with Daddy, and the helicopter ride all by myself!  Once I figured out how to pull the lever and keep the helicopter up high, I refused to let it go back down again.
- Bike rides are the best way to get around town at the beach, and I love to sit in my seat with my helmet on and watch the world go by.  We think that next year I’ll have to come up with a different way for me to bike, because I’m getting too big for the seat.
- I love to play in the sand on the beach and mix pancakes for everyone.  And I have a truck that makes wheel tracks in wet sand that remarkably look like choo-choo tracks.  I make tracks all over the beach, and would yell at the waves when them came up too high and washed them away “NO WATER – Don’t take my choo-choo tracks!”
-I got my OWN ice cream cone, and it was YUMMY, but messy
